BBB complaint guide.
A BBB-style complaint can create public pressure, but it is not the same as a government regulator, court, bank dispute, or fraud report.
Rule: use BBB for business-response pressure, not as your only route when money, fraud, or regulation is involved.
Good fit
- Business is ignoring a reasonable refund or service complaint.
- You want a public written response.
- The issue is factual and easy to summarize.
- You have dates, receipts, messages, and desired resolution.
Weak fit
- Fraud or identity theft: use bank/platform/FTC-style routes first.
- Bank or credit issue: financial regulator route may be better.
- Phone/internet issue: telecom regulator route may be better.
- Licensed contractor/professional issue: licensing board may matter more.
